Spanish & Portuguese Studies
Support Friends of Spanish & Portuguese Studies!

At the University of Washington, our greatest strength is our community. That’s why our annual Husky Giving Day starts and ends with you. On April 2, 2020, join us for 24 hours of opportunities to come together and proudly support the people, programs and causes you care about most. Because when we join hands, we can change the world.

The Department of Spanish & Portuguese Studies teaches some of the world’s most essential languages: Portuguese is spoken by 220 million people worldwide and Spanish is spoken by 480 million, including one in six people in the United States.

Undergraduate students in our department not only acquire linguistic proficiency in foreign languages, they also develop critical thinking and communication skills, as well as a deeper awareness of cultural diversity.  Meanwhile, faculty and graduate students undertake research on topics related to literature, culture, and linguistics.

By participating in Husky Giving Day, you help support the mission of the Department of Spanish & Portuguese Studies to promote the languages, literatures and cultures of Spain, Portugal, Latin America, the Lusophone world, and US Latinos.
